Welcome to Krypnotes! Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") carefully before using the Krypnotes mobile application (the "Service") operated by Krypzon ("us", "we", or "our").

Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned upon your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all users and others who wish to access or use the Service. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. The Service: A Local-First Application

Krypnotes is a local-first note-taking application. This means that all of your data, including notes, folders, and tasks ("User Content"), is stored exclusively on your personal device.

• We DO NOT store, transmit, or have access to your User Content on any of our servers or any third-party cloud service.
• We DO NOT have access to your encryption keys or your Master Passphrase.

2. The Master Passphrase: Your Absolute Responsibility

To use certain security features of Krypnotes, such as creating encrypted backups, you must create a Master Passphrase.

• Your Master Passphrase is the ONLY key that can decrypt your encrypted backup files. We have no copy of it and no way to recover it.
• IF YOU FORGET OR LOSE YOUR MASTER PASSPHRASE, YOUR ENCRYPTED BACKUP DATA WILL BE PERMANENTLY AND IRREVOCABLY LOST.
• You are solely responsible for securely storing and remembering your Master Passphrase. We strongly advise you to store it in a secure location separate from your primary device.

3. Data Security and User Responsibility

The security of your User Content depends on the features you use within the app and the physical and digital security of your device.

• Standard Notes: Stored in the application's private data area on your device, protected by the OS.
• Protected Notes: Require authentication (Master Passphrase or biometrics) to view within the app.
• Encrypted Backups: Apply your Master Passphrase to cryptographically secure your data outside the app.

Your Responsibilities:

• You decide which features are appropriate for your data sensitivity.
• You are responsible for your device's overall security (passcode, malware, theft, etc.).

4. Backup and Restore

• The management, storage, and security of backup files are your responsibility.
• Restoring requires the same Master Passphrase used to create the backup.
• We are not liable for corrupted backup files or failed restorations.

5. "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" Disclaimer

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted under law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied. We are not liable for any damages arising out of use or inability to use the Service.

6. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use the Service for any illegal or prohibited purpose. You are solely responsible for the legality of your User Content.

7. Changes to Terms

We may modify or replace these Terms at any time. Notice of changes will be provided within the app or on our website.

8. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of India / Uttar Pradesh, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
